Biography:

I was born on Sept 27, 1971 in Pompano Beach, Fla. As a child my competitive spirit seemed to develop early. As a very young girl I began to participate in both ballet and dance. I later became intrigued with the athleticism and strength gymnastics required and spent the next 9 years of my life as a competitive gymnast. In high school, I was a varsity cheerleader and also began training with free weights which I really enjoyed.

As time progressed I began to notice the physical changes taking place in my body. As a gymnast I was somewhat thin, but once I began weight training I rapidly developed both muscle tone and strength. During this time I was encouraged by members of my gym to train for a bodybuilding competition. Amazingly, I entered the Teenage Nationals and won the show. Later, I competed in the Collegiate Nationals and placed first in my class. Unfortunately, while planning my next competition, I tore my ACL snow skiing which eventually required 3 knee operations and extended time away from my training program. This was a challenging time for me both physically and mentally but it did allow me to concentrate on the next phase of my life which was to begin my graduate studies in Chiropractic school.

"I won my class and the overall
competition earning my IFBB pro card."

As a student at Life College I grew even more to appreciate the amazing human body, how it functions and the importance of the mind, body, spirit connection. I graduated in 1996 as a new doctor and set out to build my practice while continuing to train hard, eat well, and maintain my cardiovascular endurance. In 1998 I met my husband and two years later the first of our three beautiful children was born. Becoming a mother has been the most gratifying experience of my life. However, when I realized that our family was now complete, I had the desire to compete again. Thankfully, figure competitions gave me this opportunity.

I entered my first regional show in Gadsden, Alabama in June of 2007 winning my class and the overall competition with my children in attendance who were my biggest fans. In the next year I competed in three national level shows culminating in the 2008 Masters Nationals in Pittsburg, Pa. (home of the NPC!) where I won my class and the overall competition earning my IFBB Pro card.

As a Figure Pro I hope to inspire other women that they too can achieve their fitness goals at any stage of life. I especially hope to encourage busy mothers that nothing is impossible in the years AD (after delivery) and with healthier lifestyles they become role models for their children who are developing their own health awareness.

I am often asked how it is possible to satisfy the demands of life while reaching to achieve individual goals. There is no substitution for hard work, determination and discipline. Ultimately, I have found that my faith along with the incredible support of my family and especially my coach has empowered me to achieve my dreams.
